Los Angeles Lakers: Lakers acquire Brook Lopez from Brooklyn Nets| June 20th, 2017
This is another deal that involves another big man and it is one of the greatest Nets big man of all-time Brook Lopez. Brook Lopez was delt to the Los Angeles Lakers along with the 21st pick in the 2017 NBA Draft in exchange for guard D’Angelo Russell and forward Timofey Mozgov.
There were rumors coming out earlier in the week in which the Lakers were really thinking about trading D’Angelo Russell away and tonight they struck a deal which also clears cap space. The Lakers are looking to rebuild in whole as they are in play to potentially trade for Paul George from Indiana and now they just added a big name in Brook Lopez.
The subtraction of D’Angelo Russell’s and especially Mozgov’s contracts clears almost 50 dollars in cap space which the Nets will now pick up. With so much spending money with the departure of Russell and Mozgov, the Lakers can finally look to free agency this year and be in play for a big name free agent. The cards are all in the hands for the Lakers here and this was an excellent deal for the team for the coming future.
The Brooklyn Nets have picked up D’Angelo Russell who comes with baggage from his time with the Lakers. The Nets will hope that with the change of scenery could help him in being a better player. P.S., god speed to the Nets as they are proud owners of Mozgov’s contract…

Charlotte Hornets: Hornets acquire C Dwight Howard from Atlanta Hawks | June 20th, 2017
It is quite a trade just a couple of days outside of the 2017 NBA Draft. The Atlanta Hawks decided to move on from Dwight Howard after just one season which saw him get benched after a poor performance during the NBA Playoffs.
Last offseason the Hawks signed Howard to a huge 3-year contract worth $70 million dollars. The Atlanta Hawks are looking like a team that is on their way to rebuilding as they could be going forward after Paul Millsap who will be listening to offers in free agency and now they moved on from Howard. This move could benefit the Hawks as it clears up cap space so that they can be in the bidding for Millsap once free agency opens up.
Dwight Howard, 31, is heading to Charlotte and will contribute to a team that looks like they are prepared to make a huge jump towards the playoffs next season. Dwight Howard will be pairing up with a nice core of players such as Kemba Walker, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Cody Zeller and Nicolas Batum. Dwight Howard will also be joining up with his former coach in Steve Clifford who was with the Orlando Magic during Howard’s time with the team. The Hornets will also receive the 31st pick in the draft as well.
