  • Baltimore Orioles: The Baltimore Orioles announced that they will be sending down first baseman Pedro Alvarez and second baseman Johnny Giavotella. Both players were competing for reserve roles this spring and both lost out on the chance. Pedro Alvarez had a late appearance to Spring Training as he did re-signed with the Orioles in early March. In 8 games this spring Alvarez batted .310 with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s. If Pedro Alveraz continues this hot streak in the minors it will only be a matter of time until he is backup at the MLB level.

  • Houston Astros: The Houston Astros announced their final roster cut and it is once again pitcher James Hoyt. Yes once again, this is the second time and back-to-back years that James Hoyt was the last man out to crack the Astros Opening Day roster. James Hoyt had a solid spring overall posting an 3.11 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 10 games with 11 innings pitched.
