Pro Football Talk’s Charean Williams reports that newly signed Jaguars offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi is taking first-team reps during Jaguars OTA’s.
Cedric Ogbuehi, 27, is getting a fresh new start in Jacksonville after getting his contract option declined by the Bengals last year. 2018 was not a great year, to say the least for Ogbuehi who sat out as a healthy scratch for the majority of the season.
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator John DeFilippo spoke to the media about Ogbuehi’s progress with the team so far.
“I’m pleased with our depth on the O-line right now. I really am. I think we’ve had a couple nice additions. Cedric Ogbuehi is moving really, really well right now and playing well. Guys like that, I don’t want to say ‘surprised you’ because I saw what he did on tape. It wasn’t really surprising, but it’s been pleasant to see his athleticism. You see that on tape, but then you see it in person, as well. I brought up Ced, but there are a lot of guys I could mention that I think can give us a lot of depth on the O-line.”
The Jacksonville Jaguars targeted offensive line help during the NFL Draft by selecting Jawaan Taylor in the second round. The addition of Taylor is nothing to undermine as he is still the favorite to land the starting job at right tackle. Cedric Ogbuehi could be a depth add if he continues to improve down the stretch of OTA’s, training camp and the preseason.
