According to the teams official Twitter account, the Twins have designated relief pitcher Addison Reed for assignment.
This season, Addison Reed has been dealing with a thumb injury which has pushed back his season debut with the Minnesota Twins. Recently, Reed has been cleared to resume baseball activities and was sent to the minor leagues for a rehab assignment with AAA-Rochester. In five games, Reed has given up 13 hits, 8 earned runs (4 home runs) in five innings of work.
At the time of his designation, the Twins are on the hook for Reed’s $8.5 million dollar salary for the season. Reed’s roster spot will be replaced by fellow relief pitcher Austin Adams.
