This afternoon, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has confirmed that the Philadelphia Eagles will sign former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Cody Kessler.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been busy this offseason in regards to the quarterback position. The Jaguars first parted-ways with Blake Bortles, signed former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles and drafted Gardner Minshew in the 6th round of the 2019 draft. The draft selection of Gardner Minshew quickly put the end of Cody Kessler’s run with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kessler was released by Jacksonville on May 9th.
The signing of Kessler will become official on Monday following a physical. Kessler will join Clayton Thorson, Luis Perez and longtime Eagles backup quarterback Nate Sudfeld in camp to battle for Carson Wentz’s primary backup for the 2019 season.
