Illinois: Quarterback M.J. Rivers Enters Transfer Portal

Illinois sophomore quarterback M.J. Rivers has entered the transfer portal.

M.J. Rivers took to Twitter to tweet about his decision saying “Thank you to the IlliniNation for an unforgettable year but due to personal circumstances I will be entering the transfer portal. Please respect my decision. I-L-L.”

The loss of Rivers is crucial to the Illinois program. With Rivers transferring it will leave only two scholarship quarterbacks on the team’s roster Matt Robinson and Coran Taylor. Illinois is expected to have graduate-transfer and former Penn State quarterback Tommy Stevens this coming weekend for a visit.

It is currently unknown where Rivers has expressed interest in visiting but we will continue to follow this on-going story.
