Salt Lake Stallions Player Spotlight: Aaron Duckworth, Running Back

Continuing our AAF Player Spotlight Interview series, we are being joined by former Idaho Vandals running back, now Salt Lake Stallion Aaron Duckworth.

Justin David Kish: Thank you so much for you’re time Aaron. How are things going for you today?

Aaron Duckworth: Hey and I’m great definitely can’t complain

Justin David Kish: You are the newly signed running back to the Salt Lake Stallions. Tell us about your journey as to how you joined the Stallions?

Aaron Duckworth: My journey was up and down honestly. While still getting contacts from other teams and CFL but no one actually pulling the trigger about me coming except one CFL team I didn’t know where I would end up. I heard about this league and had a lot of people help me and encourage me to play in it since I was on the fence about it. Randy Mueller is awesome and was one of the first people who introduced me to the Salt Lake Stallions.

Justin David Kish: During you’re college career you played at The University of Idaho. What did you learn from the coaching staff at Idaho?

Aaron Duckworth: One thing that I can say from playing at at U of I is that you will learn how to work and grind. Definitely one of the hardest working places I know. I’ve always increased my knowledge of the game greatly by being there.

Justin David Kish: What traits did you learn at Idaho that you will be bringing over to the Stallions?

Aaron Duckworth: Some traits I’ll bring over from Idaho is the ability to compete. Coach Petrino is a competitor and he installs that in his players. So I will definitely compete in anything I do.

Justin David Kish: The Stallions is being coached by former Arizona State head coach Dennis Erickson. What do you know about Dennis Erickson and his coaching staff which features you’re running back’s coach Nick Alaimalo?

Aaron Duckworth: I’m very excited to play for some like Coach Erickson. Legendary coach who constructed a great coach staff to play for. Just being around this coaches is a blessing and can’t wait to show them my electrifying play.

Justin David Kish: You are joining a Stallions backfield which features former Minnesota Vikings Matt Asiata and Denver Bronco Juwan Thompson. How do you separate from the rest of the Stallions running back core?

Aaron Duckworth: Joining these guys will definitely be a great I think I can learn a lot from them that I can use to better myself. My knowledge of the game and big play making abilities is something I will bring to the group that I feel will help me a lot . Whether that be at RB or special teams.

Justin David Kish: How are you currently preparing yourself for the upcoming season? Who are you training with?

Aaron Duckworth: At this point I’m doing a lot more strength and speed training back at U of I where I played and went to school . I’ve also increased my conditioning dramatically.

Justin David Kish: Are there any important dates for the stallions coming up?

Aaron Duckworth: Towards the end of November we have something coming up.

Justin David Kish: What are we to expect from Aaron Duckworth in 2019 and going forward?

Aaron Duckworth: In 2019 you will see this new league take off . I believe we have some great players and great coaches on our team. That will do whatever it takes to win. Whatever my role is on the team you will see my flying around playing at 100% . Most important though you’ll see us win. I believe this team knows how to win and expects nothing less.
