Buffalo Bills Expected To Sign Free Agent Derek Anderson

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Buffalo Bills are expected to sign free agent quarterback Derek Anderson.

Derek Anderson, 35, has been sitting in the free agent pool for quite a while and is the only real veteran quarterback who can really mentor the young quarterbacks in Buffalo.

Prior to signing with the Bills, Anderson played seven seasons with the Carolina Panthers serving as Cam Newton‘s backup. Prior to that, Anderson had a one year stint with the Arizona Cardinals playing in 12 games and starting 9.

Derek Anderson is a drastic improvement at quarterback for the Bills but he will not be a starter once he joins the team. Anderson will mentor both Nathan Peterman and Josh Allen as Allen will continue to start for the Bills and Peterman likely falling to #3 on the depth chart.

Buffalo plays Tennessee, Houston, and Indianapolis in the coming weeks.
