Albany State gave me a great experience on campus and off campus. The community itself is what makes it a great place because everybody at Albany treats you the same everybody treats each other like family. The way they welcomed me in is what I will never forget they open they arms up and brought me in with nothing but praise.
Justin David Kish: How did the coaching staff at Albany State improve you as a player during your tenure?
Marquez Thomas: Coach Gabe & Coach Peoples are straight up coaches they are going to tell you what it is and what its not and they gone make sure they push you everyday to be the best you can be and that’s all the coaches they going to let you know what you need to improve on and what you are very dominate at and no matter what they going to coach you everyday until they see you getting better at what they expects.
Justin David Kish: Playing in the Division II’s SIAC you played against teams like Miles College, Tuskegee University, and Central State University. What is one game in your career that brought out the best in you and took you to your limits?
Marquez Thomas: Tuskegee, I was getting recruited by those guys over there also I was originally committed to those guys before I came to Albany State, but things didn’t go well so I always look forward into playing those guys every year I had a lot of pressure against that team.
Justin David Kish: Playing linebacker, you have faced some of the best offensive linemen in D2. What is one offensive lineman you faced head off that challenged you and how did you favor?
Marquez Thomas: Best lineman I have faced was this guy from West Ga he played Left Tackle he was the best complete lineman I have ever seen and played against and playing linebacker playing guys like that you always must be on your best game and go hard cause guys like that bring the best out of you and I was looking forward of that match up coming into that game great guy on the field.

Justin David Kish: What does it mean to be a Golden Ram?
Marquez Thomas: To be a Golden Ram means you will forever have lifetime family & friends being a Golden Ram is special that’s why we say golden in front of it I love being a ram I made the best decision ever by coming to Albany State you can be the best player in the world if you don’t meet the Golden Rams standards you cannot be a part of this special family I love everyone that’s a Golden Ram always a Ram! You have to be special to be a ram everyone not built like the Golden Rams
Justin David Kish: Let’s shift our focus to the upcoming draft. How are you preparing yourself for the draft and other pro opportunities?
I am focusing on getting better at every aspect of the game, but my focus is getting faster and getting more stronger and mostly working on being a better coverage linebacker if you can cover in this league you will be able to play for a long time the NFL is becoming a passing league and as a linebacker you must be able to cover and run sideline to sideline.
Justin David Kish: What makes you stand out from the other draft-eligible linebackers?
Marquez Thomas: My passion for the game I have so much to prove and I have that mindset that I can’t be stop no matter how big you are or how fast you are I am gone give you 60 minutes of hell & I fill like I am one of the best at my position no matter the schools or etc.
Justin David Kish: How was your chemistry with your team in college?
Marquez Thomas: My team chemistry was great I had great connection with all my teammates on and off the field we always stayed together when times got hard and when times was easy I love all my teammates.
Justin David Kish: What were you’re on the field responsibilities in college?
Marquez Thomas: Basically being the coach on the field.
Justin David Kish: What is one area of your game do you consider to be your biggest strength?
Marquez Thomas: Speed, for sure tackler and I, have a passion of making you feel all of me when I hit you.
Justin David Kish: What is one area of your game you are improving on?
Marquez Thomas: Being more of a cover LB.
Justin David Kish: When watching game film what are some things you take notes and focus on?
Marquez Thomas: I always watch the QB, and also the offensive lineman they give a lot of things away and it also depends what type of running back I am playing that week, and the formations I really focus on those a lot and down and distance
Justin David Kish: Name a point during your college career where you overcame adversity and what did you learn from the experience?
Marquez Thomas: My hand injury, I learned that you are going to have a road bump somewhere in your journey but that doesn’t mean panic and give up. You just must keep fighting to overcome the obstacle a lot of times I wanted to give up but I always stayed true to what I believe and that’s the grind.
Justin David Kish: Outside of football, what does a typical day off look like for you?
Marquez Thomas: Really just chilling relaxing and just playing video games or being with the family and watching sports.
Justin David Kish: In the next couple of questions, I am going to put you on the spot. My first question, if you were to compare yourself to any current NFL linebacker who would it be and why?
Marquez Thomas: Vontaze Burfict, Physical loves the gameplay the game at a high level and when he gets to you he is trying to kill you that’s what I love, and he do not care what anyone have to say he plays the game the way he knows how.
Justin David Kish: My final question. If I was an NFL General Manager, why should I draft Marquez Thomas?
Marquez Thomas: You should draft Marquez Thomas because I am a leader on and off the field. My passion for the game is sky high. Be able to help or provide that missing piece that any NFL team is missing.
