WWE Releases James Ellsworth From His Contract

This afternoon, the WWE announced that they have released James Ellsworth from his WWE contract.

During his tenure with the WWE, James Ellsworth gained fame with his debut match against Braun Strowman where he was scared “shitless” from the monster among man. Following his debut. Ellsworth would work a short-term program with A.J. Styles defeating him multiple times due to poor storyline booking.

Entering 2017, James Ellsworth started aligning himself with Carmella which really got a lot of backlash from fans as fans thought Carmella can shine on her own without a valet but nevertheless the WWE placed Ellsworth with her. Over the course of the year, Ellsworth helped Carmella win Miss Money in the Bank ladder match not once but twice, leaving a bad taste in the mouth of fans alike. James Ellsworth would later adapt a dog gimmick even wearing dog collars and being chained up to the ring ropes during Carmella’s matches. Ellsworth’s last moment in the WWE came in a match against Becky Lynch in which he lost which lead to Carmella turning on him and being written on WWE television.
