With Carson Palmer out for what could be a couple months, the Arizona Cardinals added former Arizona State Sun Devil and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Mike Bercovici to the practice squad.
Mike Bercovici was a successful quarterback at Arizona State under the tutelage of head coach Todd Graham. During his tenure at Arizona State, Bercovici had spot starts and appearances all the way up to his senior season where he was named the starter and team captain. In his senior season, Bercovici lead the the Sun Devils to a 6-5 record with an upset win over #16 USC Trojans off a hail mary but was unsuccessful in his final game against West Virginia in the Cactus Bowl as they lost 42-43.
After a successful and highlighting college career, Mike Bercovici went undrafted but quickly found a home in his home state of California with the Chargers. Mike would spend 2016 on the Chargers practice squad and during this year’s preseason with the Chargers before ultimately getting let go by the team.
Now back on an NFL team, Mike Bercovici will continue to become a development piece at the next level. If he remains with the Cardinals heading into next season, he could be battling for a backup quarterback role.
