Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Jacksonville Jaguars are likely not going to suit up rookie running back Leonard Fournette this week vs. Indianapolis.
In last week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, Fournette sustained a scary ankle injury on a non-contact play where he was looking to juke on a run but he awkwardly landed on his ankle. Leonard Fournette would hop off the field under his own power and would be seen working his way back to get back in the game but the Jaguars coaching staff decided against it and held him out. The Jacksonville Jaguars would go on and lose 27-17 against the Los Angeles Rams.
All week, Leonard Fournette has been listed on the injury report as questionable with a sprained ankle but today it has been confirmed they will give the rookie an extended break as they head into their bye week next week. With Leonard Fournette out this week, the Jaguars will turn to Chris Ivory in a spot-start this week.
This season, Leonard Fournette has 130 carries for 597 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. Fournette will return in week 9 when the Jaguars meet the Cincinnati Bengals.
