Arizona Cardinals Release Chris Johnson After Acquiring Adrian Peterson

The move has been confirmed via Adam Schefter. The Arizona Cardinals this morning acquired Adrian Peterson from the New Orleans Saints for a late-round draft selection so this move will open up a spot for him on the roster.

Chris Johnson was brought back to Arizona earlier in the year after the Cardinals lost David Johnson to a wrist injury. In his second tenure with the Cardinals, Chris Johnson really didn’t muster a whole lot as he averaged 2.5 yards a carry and 114 yards total over 4 games.

Chris Johnson, 32, is a shell of his former self and has just not been the same Chris Johnson of year’s past. This could have possibly been his last run in the National Football League, unless otherwise. (Source: Adam Schefter)
