A former Opening Day starter for the Brewers, Wily Peralta has decided to hit the free agent market rather than accept a minor league outright.
Peralta, 28, was demoted down the ladder for the Brewers from being a starter to being sent to the bullpen and then ultimately demoted to the minor leagues in 2017.
Wily Peralta finished 2017 with a 5-4 record, 7.45 ERA in 57 innings. Peralta will land a minor league deal this winter and could compete for a backend rotation job. The Milwaukee Brewers also departed with Kirk Nieuwenhuis, David Goforth, Rob Scahill and Michael Blazek.
