After signing a major league contract late last month, the Mariners have decided to move on from shortstop Danny Espinosa.

Danny Espinosa, 30, started the year off with the Angels but was DFA’ed on July 16th but would clear waivers and get signed by the Seattle Mariners on July 23rd. Espinosa’s tenure with the Mariners is not much worth noting besides that he was a spot-start utility piece in his month spent with the team.

This season, Danny Espinosa has struggled to find a stride as he has a slash line of .164/.237/.516. Now a free agent, Espinosa could be looked at but probably won’t garner a major league contract but a minor league contract is more understandable.

Update: Taking Espinosa’s roster spot in Seattle is Taylor Motter.
