McGregor Wants 8 Ounce Gloves VS. Mayweather!

On August 26, 2017 Floyd Mayweather will fight Conor McGregor in a bout scheduled for 12 rounds. There has been much controversy though going into the fight. A day after Mayweather held his Media Workout, Conor McGregor did the same. Conor took multiple questions and sat down for an interview at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas, Nevada in which he tried to clear up some of the questions fans and the world have.
Conor talked briefly about being a father now. McGregor had made comments previously before a fight that his opponent had, “distractions” and he(McGregor) didn’t at the time. He was asked if he felt his son was a distraction to him now. McGregor claims no, he says he is now, “laser focused” because of his son. McGregor said he wants to have his family with him every step of the way. Saying, “These are historic days, and I want us(his family) together for them.”
McGregor was asked a series of questions through out the media workout and even after. But none more hot topic than when he was asked about being a racist. McGregor was asked about a comment that Mayweather claimed McGregor had said. Mayweather claimed that McGregor called him a, “monkey”. When asked about that McGregor responded quickly and sternly.
When asked McGregor said, “I never called him(Mayweather) that.” McGregor continued, “I would never insult someone’s race.” He said, “I’m not racist and he(Mayweather) knows that.” McGregor added, “ask Floyd senior, he knows I’m not(racist).” Conor said, “I would never compare him(Mayweather) to the great ape, ya know what I mean? I would call him a rat, because that’s what he is. He’s a fucking rat, or a weasel. Because that’s a move a rat or a weasel would make.” McGregor added, “But that’s the kind of guy he is. Yeah that’s the kind of guy he is, he beats his wife in front of his kids.” McGregor would cool down though and say, “I’m sorry if anyone was offended(by things he had said prior)”.
Besides rattling the bee hive so to speak, McGregor would talk about other things as well. McGregor talked about possibly fighting other boxers later and about fighting Mayweather with 8 ounce gloves instead of 10 ounce gloves. He claimed that if he gets to fight Mayweather with the 8 ounce gloves, “I struggle to give him two rounds even. Seriously I struggle to even give him two rounds.” He had said before that he would knock out Mayweather in four rounds, but that was with the 10 ounce gloves. If Mayweather agrees to it, it would be up to the Nevada State Gaming Commision if the fighters would be allowed to fight with the 8 ounce gloves instead of the regulation 10 ounce gloves.
Regardless of what else happens leading up to the fight, the world will be watching. We still want to know, what will be said next and who will say it? And the most obvious, who’s going to win the fight? We will know all those answers in less than 13 days from now. One thing we all know, on August 26, 2017 two of the biggest names in combat sports history will battle to the finish. Will it be the two or four round knock out like McGregor says, or the drawn out show that Mayweather predicts? We’ll know all of that by the final bell of the night in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 26, 2017.
