King’s power forward Zach Randolph could possibly be banned from the league due to his recent run-in with law enforcement.
Zach Randolph had a busy offseason which saw him leave the Memphis Grizzlies after 8-seasons and sign a 2-year $24 million dollar contract with the Kings on July 10th. On July 10th, Zach Randolph was arrested in Los Angeles, California with possession of two pounds of marijuana and later charged with “intent to sell”, Randolph’s bail was set at $20,000 dollars.
Memphis writer Ronald Tillery noted that Zach Randolph could be suspended due to new CBA rules. The new CBA rules state on page 24 of the CBA rules “A player will be dismissed and disqualified from the NBA if he is convicted of, or pleads guilty, no contest or nolo contendre to, a crime involving the felony distribution of marijuana.”
Zach Randolph’s name is not the only name linked to a league ban as his former teammate in Memphis O.J. Mayo was banned from the league for league drug violation, he was banned from the league in July of 2016 but is eligible to return in 2018. The Sacramento Kings commented saying they are aware of the situation but are not commenting right now on Randolph’s situation. We will continue to monitor this situation and post updates on this as news presents itself. Please keep on checking back with us.
