MLB Trade Grade: Kansas City Royals Acquire Melky Cabrera From Chicago White Sox

For the second time in his career, Melky Cabrera is going to the Kansas City Royals.

Melky Cabrera was a part of the Kansas City Royals back in 2011 where he put up career numbers in home runs (18), RBI’s (87) and batting average (.305). This season, Melky Cabrera is still posting solid numbers as he has a slash line of .305/.339/.470.. Melky Cabrera will immediately take over in right field for the Royals which will put Jorge Bonifacio as the primary backup in the outfield and Brandon Moss remaining at designated hitter.

Heading to Chicago is a former second-round selection in 2016 A.J. Puckett and former eighth-round selection in 2015 Andre Davis. A.J. Puckett is currently at Class-A (Adv.) Wilmington where he holds a 9-7 record and a 3.90 ERA in 20 games this season. Andre Davis is currently at Class-A (Full) Lexington where he holds a 5-4 record and a 4.83 ERA in 18 games this season. Both pitchers developmental pieces for the White Sox.
