Signed as an international free agent this past offseason, Jae-gyun Hwang had an invite to Giants Spring Training but did not make the team’s roster after camp, he was later sent to AAA-Sacramento.
The San Francisco Giants current standpoint at third base is currently unknown as they have been flipping between Eduardo Nunez to Conor Gillaspie and now Ryder Jones (who was called up over Hwang). This season at AAA-Sacramento, Jae-gyun Hwang has been very productive as he is currently batting .287 with 7 home runs and 44 RBI’s.
It will seem very unlikely that we will see the Giants promote Hwang in time before his desired time to be called as they recently promoted Ryder Jones. The likely scenario is that once the rosters expand later this summer Hwang could be promoted as the Giants are not in contention for the playoffs so giving their minor leaguers some big league time wouldn’t hurt. This decision all lands on Hwang.
