California: Max Gilliam To Transfer From The University

Quarterback Max Gilliam has announced his intention to transfer from California.

The Golden Bears are in a transition period at quarterback as they are no longer with Davis Webb as he is now in the NFL with the Giants. The Golden Bears opened up spring practice with Chase Forest and Ross Bowers as the two battling and last week Brandon McIlwain transferred to Cal to battle for the starting role in 2018. Max Gilliam was penciled in as at best #3 for Cal and likely battling for a #3 spot in 2018. This transfer decision makes a whole lot of sense.

Max Gilliam will now transfer and if stays at the FBS level he will sit out this coming year but if he transfers to an FCS level he will play immediately. During his recruitment trail he was offered deals by Ohio and visited Arizona and Washington, maybe those schools could be on his radar.
