Former South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback Brandon McIlwain has announced that they will be transferring to California and join the Golden Bears.
Brandon McIlwain had quite a journey trying to find a new school where he can call home. Brandon McIlwain’s journey took him to a number of schools like the Arizona Wildcats, Virginia Cavaliers, and the Baylor Bears but decided to land with California.
In addition to joining the Cal football team, Brandon McIlwain expressed interest in playing for the California baseball team as well. During his high school years, Brandon McIlwain was a highly touted prospect at Council Rock North High School in Pennsylvania. His high school success got him ranked as a top 20 high school prospect according to Baseball America heading into the 2016 MLB Draft.
We have seen two-sport athletes in college with the most notable being former FSU quarterback Jameis Winston who decided to pursue football than baseball. Brandon McIlwain will experiment with both sports in 2018 as that is when he will be able to play due to transfer regulations.
