49ers Interested In Savage If Houston Acquires Tony Romo?

According to Draft Analyst Troy Pauline, if the Houston Texans land quarterback Tony Romo there is a rumor that backup Tom Savage could end up getting traded to the quarterback needy San Francisco 49ers.

This is quite interesting as we would predict that the San Francisco 49ers would rebuild at quarterback in this year’s draft but with many teams not a big fan of this years quarterback class it makes a lot of sense for them to look for a quarterback in another way. Since coming into the league back in 2014, Tom Savage has been the primary backup for the Texans. During his time in Houston, Savage has been given time to get the chance to be a starter and out perform the quarterbacks that were played in front of him but he failed in all attempts to land down the position.

It was rumored back during the 2014 NFL Draft that Kyle Shanahan was interested in bringing Tom Savage to the Cleveland Browns, but with the decision in drafting Johnny Manziel and having Hoyer backing him up they found it not necessary. If Savage is dealt it would have to come down to the interest of the 49ers, Romo to come to town and Savage to get very furious with being #3 on the depth chart then hopefully a deal comes about. Never say never on this.
