This is a move that has came out of left field but it was likely in the works and under wraps all this week. For quite sometime now Kyle Shanahan was set to join the 49ers as their new head coach and left the Falcons searching for a brand new offensive coordinator. There were come candidates linked to the open position like former 49ers head coach Chip Kelly, but nothing came about it. Falcons head coach Dan Quinn announced in a press conference today that they were speaking with Alabama and Sarkisian this week and with interest in Sarkisian wanting to jump from college to the pro’s it was a match. Sarkisian will join an Atlanta Falcons offense that has a great number of pieces which include Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman and Austin Hooper.

Cleveland Browns (4:55 PM): NFL Network & ESPN reporter Adam Schefter has announced that Browns quarterback Josh McCown has been released from his contract. Josh McCown was cut by the Browns mainly due to the fact that he is a cap casualty and was a non-factor during his tenure with the team. Josh McCown was set to make $4.3 million dollars in salary and bonuses but with his release the Browns saved the money and will be able to use it in free agency. Josh McCown says he plans to continue playing and many teams could be pursing him vastly in free agency.

New York Giants (9:35 AM): New York Giants beat writer for the NJ Advance Media predicts that both wide receiver Victor Cruz and offensive lineman J.T. Thomas will both be cut by the team this offseason. Both Cruz and Thomas are due a high salary as well as contract bonuses and the Giants are rumored to be buyers during free agency. If the Giants cut Thomas they will save $3 million dollars and if the Giants cut Cruz they will save $7 million dollars. That is $10 million dollars they can use in free agency. This will be a story to watch for Giants fans.

Washington Redskins (10:30 AM): Impending free agent DeSean Jackson said in a interview with ESPN that he plans on testing the free agent market. This is not a shocker to most people as it was predicted that he would test the market. We expect Desean Jackson to garner a lot of interest in free agency and we expect his former team the Philadelphia Eagles to be the leading candidate for his services.
