NFL News & Rumors: February 2nd, 2017
Here are your daily NFL news and rumors for the day of February 2nd, 2017.
NFL Draft: According to NFL analyst Jason La Canfora the Arizona Cardinals are currently high on Clemson quarterback DeShaun Watson. It was said earlier this week that quarterback Carson Palmer is considering retirement this off season and that he will only play if his body is up to it. Furthermore, news broke that Palmer put his Arizona home up for sale and pulled his kids out of school, Palmer himself declined all of this. The Arizona Cardinals are not getting younger at quarterback. Quarterback Carson Palmer is turning 37 and Drew Stanton turning 33 in May and is a decent backup in the league but not a promising starter. DeShaun Watson could be an excellent option for a developing star if the Cardinals do land him in the draft. We expect the Cardinals to look at quarterback in the first round of the draft and look at DeShone Kizer and DeShaun Watson. (3:45 PM)
Arizona Cardinals: Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington could possibly not be suiting up for the 2017 NFL Season. There were multiple surfacing from this story. The first story reported that Washington could likely be coming back to the team in 2017 since being suspended in 2013. Another report was published from a source close to the team that he is likely not be reinstated to league and return to the team in 2017. The road could be coming to an end for Washington in the NFL. (1:24 PM)
Houston Texans: Houston Texans GM Rick Smith said in a press conference that Tom Savage will have every chance to be a starter for the team in 2017. This season the team rolled with Brock Osweiler and it was an ultimate travesty and has not panned out well in his first year. Tom Savage had fill in start for the Texans last year and he did not perform in the spot start for the Texans. The Texans have been linked to quarterbacks like Tony Romo and Jimmy Garoppolo earlier this week but with the Texans so limited in cap it will be hard to bring in those two. Like other media outlets said it seems likely that the team should look to drafting a quarterback at some point in the 2017 NFL Draft. (12:00 PM)
Philadelphia Eagles: The Philadelphia Eagles are said to have interest in impending wide receiver Kenny Stills. Kenny Stills is coming off his best season in his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins in which he caught 42 receptions for 726 yards and 9 touchdowns. The Eagles have a great core of receivers, but the biggest problem they had was the amount of drops their receivers had. Stills would be a great addition to the Eagles but the main issue is the amount of cap space they have. They will look to create more cap this off season to try and jump into the Stills sweepstakes.
