The Salt Lake Tribune has reported that Cooper Bateman has announced that he will pick up his college career with the Utah Utes after he announced his intentions to transfer from Alabama.
SLT reporter Kyle Goon would go on and say that his role with the team is really up in the air as Bateman has not said anything about his transfer to the team. The Utes currently have Troy Williams inked in as a starter, but with Bateman on campus he could be pushing Williams for his starting job.
Cooper Bateman in his final season with Alabama was pushed out of the starting role by the new Bama leader on offense in Jalen Hurts. In 2016, Bateman played very sparingly and took a big drop in his role with the team. With such a huge drop in role with Alabama it was best for Bateman that he transferred to a university that could give him much more time on the field and give him a better shot to showcase his skills and build a case to get drafted in 2018.
The quarterback battle for sure be an interesting position battle to watch this spring.
