After defeating Satoshi Ishii to round up the Bellator year at Bellator 169, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal will be getting back into training as he will be taking a short notice fight to take on MMA legend, Mirko Cro Cop.
The scheduled bout between King Mo and Cro Cop is scheduled to take place on December 29th in the RIZIN Openweight Grand Prix Tournament. The RIZIN tournament has taken some hits as two former UFC heavyweight’s Antonio “Big Foot” Silva pulled out of his fight in the tournmanet and Shane Carwin also pulled out citing family obligations.
Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (20-5-0-1) has took part in a RIZIN Grand Prix Tournament once before as he was the winner of the 2015 Heavyweight Grand Prix when he defeated Teodoras Aukstuolis in the semi-finals and Jiri Prochazka in the finals to win the entire tournament in 2015.
Mirko Cro Cop (32-11-2-1) is coming off his RIZIN debut in which was apart of the current tournament at hand. Mirko Cro Cop defeated Hyun Man Myung via first round rear-naked choke to advance into the second round of the tournament.
The juicy part of the tournament is among us as we are not only being treated to Cro Cop vs. King Mo but also Heath Herring meets Amir Aliakbari at the event as well. The Openweight Grand Prix Tournament is really taking a full head of steam.
