The Prodigy vs. The Prospect, that is going to be the title of the January 15th headliner between Yair Rodriguez and BJ Penn, UFC officials confirmed.

This will be the third time that BJ Penn’s name has been announced for an octagon return. BJ Penn first announced his return to the cage at UFC 199 against Dennis Siver but that fight was scrapped due to a Penn suspension. BJ Penn’s second attempt at a comeback comes when he was set to headline UFC Fight Night 97 against Ricardo Lamas. BJ Penn pulled out of his scheduled fight against Lamas due to injury and eventually the entire card was pulled. Hopefully a third time is a charm for Penn.

Yair Rodriguez, 24, has been on a massive tear through the UFC’s featherweight division. Currently riding an undefeated five fight winning streak with notable victories over Alex Caceres, Andre Fili and Dan Hooker. Yair Rodriguez will look to extend his winning streak to six fights with an upset victory over the UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn.

UFC Phoenix is currently as followed.

Court McGee vs. Ben Saunders

Devin Powell vs. Jordan Rinaldi

Erik Koch vs. Tony Martin

Cyril Asker vs. Dmitrii Smoliakov

Damian Grabowski vs. Viktor Pesta
