Oregon State’s Darell Garretson Suffers Broken Ankle Against Utah

Oregonian newspaper reporter John Canzano has confirmed that Oregon State quarterback Darell Garretson suffered an broken ankle in Saturday’s loss to Utah.

The Oregon State coaching staff is currently awaiting the MRI results on Garretson before any decisions will be made on surgery. The surgery for Garretson could likely happen today according to Canzano in his report.

Darell Garretson sustained his ankle injury in the second quarter of Saturday’s game and was replaced by sophomore Marcus McMaryion. McMaryion was able to keep the game close but a costly fumble and a couple of missed field goals did the Beavers in with 19-14 loss, dropping the Beavers to 2-4 on the season.

Oregon State head coach Gary Andersen has not yet commented if Marcus McMaryion will remain starting quarterback or if they will they make the starter a game time decision. Marcus McMaryion is currently listed as #3 on the depth chart but due to injuries to Garretson and #2 Connor Blount it could likely fall into the hands of McMaryion. The only other healthy quarterback on the roster besides McMaryion is freshman Mason Moran. We should have more information once it becomes available to the press.

UPDATE (2:00 PM MNT): Garretson is out for the rest of the season.
