The New York Jets have been awarded tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins is getting another shot this season after getting arrested for DUI earlier this week. Due to his declining performance with the team and being outplayed by two other tight ends the Buccaneers decided that it was time to close the door on Seferian-Jenkins ending his three-year tenure with the team.
The New York Jets are taking a shot with Seferian-Jenkins after the depth at the position is very low and production at the position is very poor. Due to his DUI arrest this week Seferian-Jenkins is looking at a possible league suspension and it could take sometime until we see him suit up for the New York Jets. In the mean time the Jets will continue to be primarily using receivers Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker and Quincy Enuwa.
The New York Jets will meet Seattle, Pittsburgh and Arizona in the coming weeks, so getting all the receivers and everyone being healthy during this three game stretch will be very key for the 1-2 Jets.
