According to Field Yates, the Tennessee Titans have waived quarterback Zach Mettenberger.
This move has been coming from quite a while since the Titans found their new #2 in Matt Cassel in free agency. This move has taken a few weeks after the draft as it seemed like the team tried to trade Mettenberger during the NFL Draft. Following the end of the draft the team found no suitors and even post-draft still no suitors on Mettenberger. Today the team decided it was time to move on from him.
Since breaking into the league in 2014 Mettenberger has had a rocky career, including last year. Last season, the Titans went winless (0-4) in his Mettenberger’s four starts. Zach Mettenberger struggled mightily so much last year showing poor pocket presence and had poor awareness as he was sacked 13 times last year. Mettenberger, 24, is still in a learning phase in the NFL and will likely continue to develop as backup for a team whoever decides to snag him on waivers (if he passes).
Expect teams like the Arizona Cardinals to have interest as well as maybe the Baltimore Ravens.
